Recognized as Atheros - which is the controller it uses.
It may interest some that Mac OSX recognizes it as Airport.

Nothing. It was recognized and installed as Atheros on first boot after installation.

Just installed one of these in my PC as a replacement for a Dlink DWG520 and it just keeps asking for me to install ethernet controller drivers. Tried the 32bit ones off Netgear site, but no good at all. Do yuo have to completely uninstall old drivers and not install any netgear software for it to work?

Netgear has told me that they will not have Drivers for wireless NIC Adaptors beforel the end of April, at the earliest! See you later, netgear!

They told you wrong. I have 3 netgear wireless adapters running Vista. I downloaded Vista drivers from Netgear's website.
Here's the link to all their Vista drivers (including Vista 32-bit drivers for the WG311T - I own 2 of them). Even though the filename says beta they work fine. I've never had a dropped connection (I run them with a Netgear router).
